PETALS, BUDS, BLOOMS & BOUQUETS

I pride myself in being a super disciplined person… except when it comes to flowers… Once I step foot in the Los Angeles flower market, I lose all sense of what is enough.  My heart skips a beat on every turn, as my eyes fall in love at first sight, over and over… And I over indulge, over and over.  I justify why I have to buy just one more bunch of beauties.

Once back home, I continue to appreciate and get crazy joy from every petal, bud and bloom. My favorite roses are David Austin, a little bit more expensive than others, but they last forever and have the best pink palette.

Hyacinths don't last too long, but their fragrance is unmatched.  Hydrangeas often steal the show, due to their size and how long they hold their beauty, transitioning from fresh to dried.

I was curious about a hot pink plastic pot and asked the hydrangea flower vendor why and how?  He then explained that he had worked out the perfect formula to create a pale pink, with tones of blue (as opposed to salmon), by adding a few drops of pink dye to the pot filled with white hydrangeas. The dye would travel up the steams, causing a lovely pink hue… good to know.

So if ever you find yourself at the flower market, and see me peeking over bundles of blooms… know that once again, I just couldn't control myself, but am sooooo happy with my beauties.

Dear. Rachel,
I am in desperate need of a decorator with. Your touch.
We have lived in Brentwood Park ( Burlingame, Rockingham Ave). We recently moved to an older home in Bel Air decorated by Martin Bullard.? donated all of our furniture . My husband wants to move ASAP ( we will lease or ?). He is making an offer on the most modern ugly home ( brand new). If you have the time I would love to show it to you
We are downscaling as our boys are older. It’s an intersecting home but unless you decorate it
I’m not moving

Dear Rachel and team, I would love to visit some flower and antique markets in both London and Paris on my up coming trip and would love to know what Rachel’s recommendations are? I know she is originally from England and had a store in London, and I hoped she had some information on the blog that mapped out both of those places but I can’t find anything. Could you all possibly put something together for all of us fans to visit Rachel’s favorite places in both London and Paris?
Thank you,
Nicole

Greetings Rachel! My love of the Shabby Chic style you’ve created started twenty years ago when I received your book “The Shabby Chic home” for Christmas.
I have always loved vintage furniture, linens, candles and flowers and you have inspired me over the years to create a calm, peaceful and beautiful home. My home is my sanctuary…thank you Rachel for continuing to inspire me!
